Here is an outline of the incredible transformation of the boat during the rebuild process.
Note: A RED STAR indicates a new stage.
All focus now is on laying up with fibre glass and resin.
She's now a bigger, better boat
totally fit for work on the sea
off the coast of beautiful Newfoundland!
Onlookers gather to watch the excavator while he works, removing all major pieces.
The boat arrived November 2007.
The boat is excavated and prepared for the hull widening process, then moved into the shop.
We now see the hull after being lengthened and widened.
The hull is prepared outside and inside prior to glassing.

It's January on the Bering Sea and the Opelio Crab Season is about to open, no wait...
wrong report (ha ha).
It's the first week of January 2008 and the Apple Island Marine crew have returned from the holidays - rested and refreshed, they now pick up where they left off -
installing the bulkheads and the carling.
We now see that the sides of the hull are built up

Apparently Todd
has been promoted to Sergeant?
Our crew has an amusing sense of humour
and that helps the time pass, but it also strengthens working relationships,
as they poke fun with each other.
On the other side, when it comes to technical applications and craftsmanship - its serious business.
We have a great team.

We see a significant change since last week.
I arrived at the shop today just in time to see the crew fitting the fuel tanks.

Thursday, March 13th
It has been almost a month since the last update. Captain Keith visited the boatshop during the first week of March.
At this stage, there are many different areas of construction taking place including the wheelhouse, galley, forward deck, down forward, upper head and bunk.
Glassing and carpentry work make this stage of construction somewhat messy,
but the boat is now developing its character.
The galley is nicely layed out in an L-shape - making the area spacious and efficient.
The table in the galley is designed to function as an island and has cupboard space built in.
The following pictures were captured on January 4th 2008.
Friday, April 4th
It has been 22 days since the last update and the Stephanie Danielle has undergone a huge transformation during this time. The installation of windows, electrical work, name banners, ribbons, painting, hardware and shaft installation are either completed or close to completion.
All areas in and around the boat are littered with tools and finishing equipment. The boat is fairly dust laden but once outdoors, she will be cleaned before and after launch.
I have no hesitation in saying that this boat is absolutely beautiful and must also comment again on the layout of the galley - it is highly functional and practical. During picture taking today, I overheard a fisherman who was visiting the shop, say that he had "not seen a galley layout like this one". He commented on the good use of space and mentioned how fine the quality of the finishwork was; and said that "the continuous quality of our work is what sets us apart from most other shops."
What great and genuine compliments.
Apple Island Marine strives to construct boats of good quality that meet or exceed Transport Canada standards. No two of our boats are identical, but all are built with integrity, highly functional and totally fit for the sea!
Here are today's pictures.
Viewing the engineering room. Once cleared of workers, wires and tools, we will take pictures and post.
(time permitting)
Now that there is proper lighting, we can view downforward.
Please Note: the picture of the shower and toilet are not posted (due to poor picture quality).
Thursday, April 10 2008 - LAUNCH DAY !
Our first view of the Stephanie Danielle outdoors, as she is moved to the side platform for prelaunch tasks.
It had been beautiful weather here all week, especially yesterday when it hit a high of 17, but soon after this picture was taken, the weather changed to just downright miserable.
Approaching the slipway,
and in she goes.
