Welcome to the newest addition to Apple Island Marine - Hubbies Boatbuilders
Hubbies Boatbuilders was established in 1980. It was founded by Herbert Atkinson, brother of Bruce Atkinson (Bruce Atkinson Boatbuilding), and great grandson to the creator of the original Cape Island Style designed hull, Ephraim Atkinson. The family has been building boats for over 100 years.
Herbert (fondly known as Hubbie) envisioned a business that focused on producing hulls much similar to that which his family built generations past, with improved quality while retaining the original heritage and integrity of the hull. The solid construction built with composites and standards that exceed regulation requirements, gained Hubbie the reputation of producing dependable hulls in a classic style, for use in a diversity of applications.
Hubbie manages operations and all existing staff will also remain.

Hull Sizes Available
Hubbie Hulls can be constructed to any size between 18' x 44' to 25' x 64'
Hulls can be regular height, similar to a lobster boat or full height for use as a longliner or dragger.
Call for pricing on our custom built hulls, please provide desired length, width and height.
Location
Hubbies Boatbuilders is located on beautiful Cape Sable Island, just a short drive over the causeway from Barrington Passage, about 10 minutes. The shop is on the left side before West Head Wharf.
If travelling by boat, dock at West Head and walk to the main road and go left at the stop sign. You will see the shop on the right side. It is about a 5-7 minute walk from the wharf.
We suggest you call ahead to ensure that the shop will be open upon your arrival.
